Featured artist Vladi has been interested and involved in the arts throughout her life, participating in dancing, drawing, photography, architecture, painting and interior design. A few years ago she was introduced to a technique called “Oil/Cold Wax Painting,” which is not defined by subject matter nor the degree of realism but rather unified by experimentation in texture and the physicality of building paint layers. She has continued to be enamored with this inspiring technique, creating colorful and vibrant abstract pieces. She states, “It is always a process of discovery as the cold-wax process demands a level of improvisation that challenges even the best-laid plans.”

An engineer by trade, Vladi graduated from The Czech Technical University in Prague, packed her crayons and fled communist Czechoslovakia to start a new life in the US.  While raising a young family and building her career, photography became her artistic outlet.  Now painting and creating mixed-media collages brings her great joy. Vladi is also passionate about the opportunities to exhibit her work, and enjoys gathering with others during the Gallery’s First Friday Opening Art Receptions, where she can “meet interesting fellow artists, view their artwork and talk to art lovers from the community.”
